Metallics

decorativetouchltd.com
We all like to have some bling in our lives and our homes are no exception.  Metallics in interior
design have always been used in holiday decor, lighting, plumbing fixtures and appliances.  Today
I am seeing copper, brass, gold, silver and stainless steel used in so many beautiful and interesting ways.  The classic kitchen below highlights the timeless appeal of copper pots and stainless
ovens which add a gleam to the white surfaces.

In the next two photos, I love to see how these kitchens shake things up by using the sparkle
of metallic tiles on the wall and, in reverse, applying a metallic surface to the cabinetry.

I like to use metallics as accents in individual pieces in a room like the following silver lamp,
copper end table and brass shelves.

Or, it's fun to incorporate metallic items and details throughout the whole room.  In the first living room below, silver accents complement the soft blue color to create a cool and elegant space.
In the second living room, gold accents contrast with the black and white color scheme for a hot and lively decor.

Using metallics in unexpected places can create a look that is glamorous and out-of-the-ordinary.
The bathroom in the photo below is so exciting with its' shiny tub surface.  I love the glow that the wallpaper gives to the bedroom in the following photo.

When used on furniture, metallic surfaces add sparkle and elegance.  The warm and inviting
home office in the next photo enjoys the unexpected bling of the mirrored desk.  And, the
silver gilded bathroom cabinet makes a gorgeous statement in the second photo.

I think the "wow" factor is certainly evident in the living room below where the highly-reflective coffee tables are the centerpiece of this space.

Gold and silver are the perfect complements to each other when used together in a space.  In the next
two photos, I like the way the fabrics in the furnishings and window treatments pair the two colors.
Even without metallic surfaces , these two colors still create the stunning effect of precious metals.

Let's not forget all the exciting ways metals are being used in residential construction today.
This modern steelmesh decking material is both indefinitely sturdy but also visually appealing.
With metallics, you can have it all...functionality and beauty.  As decorative elements, they're not just for the holidays, anymore.
